  1. Why should consumers trust us over others?

The vast majority of hemp CBD products are made in unlicensed facilities.  Our team has been operating in medical and both marijuana and hemp regulated environments for many years.  We have decades of aggregate team experience creating safe and effective cannabis products which are used and trusted by many thousands of consumers.

  2. How does Gaard Labs ensures high quality production and ingredients?

We ensure no less than three levels of 3rd party laboratory testing.  The first test is on the raw ingredients.  The second test is on our extract.  The third level is at the product level.  We test for cannabinoid and terpene potency and composition, and for safety (no pesticides, metals or other toxic compounds).  It's important to understand that the industry is under regulated and manufacturing standards are inconsistent from state to state.  Gaard Labs follows the industry's most stringent regulations.  Consumer safety is our promise to you.

  3. How should I store the products?

Our products contain natural, organic ingredients.  Like most other products based on organic matter, it is best to keep them in a dark and cool environment.  Our balms are best kept in a refrigerated environment.

  4. Why do I see a pinkish hue in my balm?

The pinkish hue is a natural result of the organic ingredients reacting to light and oxygen.  The product's efficacy is unaffected despite the color variation.  Not only is this a completely normal occurrence with natural products, it's also an indication that the product does not contain synthetic preservatives.

  5. Are Gaard Labs products Vegan friendly?

Our oral sprays are vegan friendly.  However our topical products contain organic and sustainably sourced beeswax.

CBD and Terpenes

  1. How is CBD legal in the United States?

CBD was made legal by congress by the Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018 (also know as the 2018 Farm Bill).  In this bill, any hemp-based CBD with 0.3% or less THC (dry weight of product or the extracted oil) is legal.

  2. What are cannabinoids?

CBD stands for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is one of the many cannabinoids, or chemical compounds found in marijuana and hemp plants. There are approximately 150 identified phyto, or plant-based, cannabinoids.

A system within the human body called the endocannabinoid system (ECS) has receptors that interact with these phytocannabinoids fit into.  This mechanism is understood to play a part in our body's homeostasis, or the regulation of the immunity and central nervous systems.

  3. What are terpenes?

Terpenes are a large and diverse class of organic compounds produced by and found in all plants.  Well over 20,000 terpenes have been identified in nature.  Many of these are what give each flower, herb and fruit its own unique scent and flavor.  Some function at attractants and others as protective repellents.  We encounter terpenes every day.  When you walk in a pine forest, that feeling of alertness comes from terpenes.  When you smell a fresh cut lemon, those are also terpenes. The tranquility you might feel from lavender aromas, those are terpenes too.

Much like with cannabinoids, there is a plethora of anecdotal evidence supporting the benefits of terpenes.  Much of this evidence is derived from animal and cell studies.  While terpenes have been used for therapeutic purposes for thousands of years, human clinical studies continue to be at their early stages and much work needs to be done.  This is especially true with understanding how terpenes might work with certain receptors or their own or in interaction with certain cannabinoids.

  4. Will using Gaard Labs products cause me to fail a drug test?

We utilize full spectrum hemp extract, which according to New York State regulation means that our products can contain up to but no more than 0.3% THC.  We utilize full spectrum extract because we believe that our products are more effective with minute amounts of THC.  This is largely due to our belief around how phytocannabinoids interact with the ECS (see "What are cannabinoids" question above).   Consumers of oral sprays will be at higher risk for drug test failure over consumers of topical products simply because topical products have minimal, if any, absorption into the blood stream.  Whereas oral sprays do get into the blood stream.  While there are many types of drug tests, we believe that typically the likelihood of drug test failure is very low.  That said, if you are are subject to drug tests, you should consult with your medical practitioner to better assess your particular circumstances prior to using any hemp-based products.

  5. Is there a risk of adverse reaction between CBD and other prescription medications?

CBD may interact with some other medications you are taking. If you are unsure, always consult your doctor before you try CBD products.
